Dog stabbed while saving woman from knife attack

Southbridge.  Princess, a five year old Pit Bull, is being hailed a hero after being stabbed multiple times trying to protect her owner from her enraged boyfriend. Princess sustained three major stab wounds, including a six inch laceration as she tried to stand between Marie Wells, her owner, and her agitated boyfriend, during an argument.

Princess was hospitalised on the grounds of Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine, and has had several surgeries to repair the stab wounds. She lost a significant amount of blood, but is expected to survive. Eric Reyes, her attacker, is being held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing in Dudley District Court.
