Pastel and Pencil 2012. The most recent addition to my portfolio is the lovely Molly, a golden Labrador. I did this portrait from a few photos that I took of Molly in August last year. Not long after I took these photos, Molly passed away unexpectedly. Naturally, her Mum was devastated. Molly was a beautiful dog with a big smile and a gentle nature, always ready for plenty of pats.

She will be greatly missed. Rest in peace Molly.

My Best Friend

Pencil and Pastel, 2011. Personal creation for my family of myself and my best fur-friend, Jackson. Although Jackson passed away three years ago, he still has a special place in my heart. This is my tribute to him. I have tried to recreate from photo as true as possible, although I have changed colours and posture slightly for effect.

Pencil and Pastel. 2011. A new portrait for a local lady who cherishes her ‘bonny boy’  Sam.  Sam is a loving soul with a great personality.  Sam considers himself to be very much a part of the household and the ‘baby’ of the family. Despite his size he is always ready to sit on Mum’s lap at the first available opportunity.  Sam has that lovely golden tone of the Labrador and shows off his happy disposition with his beautiful smile.

Pencil and Pastel. A recent portrait for a local lady who treats her much loved silky, Millie, like a princess. In fact, her full name is Princess Millicent. Millie knows who’s boss in her household.. her. She certainly is a diva, but a happy and affectionate little soul that everybody loves.

Mr Bear

Pencil and Pastel.  A recent effort for a Brisbane businessman’s wife. I had painted Bear (or as we like to call him, Mr Bear) when he was just a puppy. For the first one I had only used pastel, but as Mr Bear is now nearly thirteen years old and quite distinguished, I thought he could use a little more definition to show those lovely well earned bits of white here and there. Bear really is a fine, well mannered and much loved member of the family. It was lovely to draw him again after all these years and to see how he turned out. He is just as cultured as ever, and he is certainly his own dog!

Pencil.  I did this portrait last year for a man who lives on the Gold Coast. Gunta passed away over fifteen years ago, and it took him a long time to even be able to look at the photographs of Gunta, he was such a loved and cherished companion. Gunta’s nickname was ‘Mr Bear’, and I believe that he was really a big cuddly teddy bear. It was a pleasure to draw such a kind and gentle personality.
